Wednesday Trivia

First of 2025

Happy New Year! I always find New Year’s Eve to be an overrated holiday, but hopefully you had a good time celebrating last night. I love being able to reset for the new year.

On to the good stuff…

TODAY’S TRIVIA: LeBron James just turned 40 years old and stated that he could play at a high level for another 5-7 years (which he also said he doesn’t plan on doing).

LeBron is one of three players to average more than 20 points or more since turning 37 (averaging 27.4 points). Michael Jordan is one of those players (21.2).

Who is the other?

Note: I thought about including Kareem, but it felt a little misleading. He averaged more than 20 ppg when he was 38, but continued to play for several more seasons, which brought that average down.

Games worth watching today:

  • Peach Bowl: (5) Texas vs. (4) Arizona State. 1pm ET on ESPN

  • Rose Bowl: (8) Ohio State vs. (1) Oregon -- 5pm ET on ESPN

  • Sugar Bowl: (7) Notre Dame vs. (2) Georgia -- 8:45pm ET on ESPN

My 2 cents: The game to watch is the OSU vs Oregon game. I think whoever wins that becomes the title favorite. Oregon is likely the best team but if OSU plays like they did last week, they are a tough out. A reminder that it will be a rematch of an October matchup when the Ducks won 32-31.

Notre Dame vs Georgia should also be a good one, especially considering that the Bulldogs starting QB, Carson Beck, is done for the season (backup Redshirt Sophomore Gunner Stockton gets the start).

Yesterday’s Trivia: O.J. Simpson rushed for 2,003 yards in 14 games (143.1 y/g), which is also the most among all 9 members of the 2k rushing yard club

Thanks for playing. See you tomorrow.
