On Tuesday, the College Football Playoff leadership committee unanimously voted to change the 12-team expanded playoff format. The original format (6+6) included 6 automatic qualifying spots for the top-ranked conference champs and then 6 other at-large spots. It’s now changed to just the top 5 conference champions and 7 at-large bids (5+7) thanks to the dismantling of the Pac-12 to the “Pac-2.”
