Madness
Happy Friday!
What a way to start March Madness:
Duquesne upset BYU, Tom Izzo’s Spartans are marching on, the Oregon Ducks (who weren’t even projected to make it to the tournament but got in by winning the last Pac12 tournament) beat South Carolina, red-hot NC State kept it going, Kansas barely survived on a controversial late-game foul call. This might be the best weekend in sports.
Games start back up today at 12:15pm when Northwestern takes on FAU on CBS.
Reminder: this year's winner of the bracket will take home the first official piece of Morning Sports Trivia swag. Check out how you are doing here

My favorite moment from last night was 24-year-old Jack Gohlke of Oakland University out there living the dream. The guy spent five years at Hillsdale College (A D-II school in Hillsdale, Michigan) before tying the record for the most 3s in the NCAA tournament (went 10-20 from 3 and had 32 points). He knocked off a Kentucky team with 3 projected NBA picks in next year’s draft including 2 projected top 10 picks.
When ending his post-game interview, Gohlke noted, “We’re not a Cinderella” before walking away. Love it.
Many Kentucky fans are calling for Coach John Calaparil’s job after another big letdown in March (they only have 1 win in the NCAA since 2019). Coach Cal has impacted several NBA stars across his coaching career…
Which of these players did coach Cal not coach? |
