Prediction for tonight's matchup below. I included the spread today because it’s a big one.
Game time: 7:30pm ET on ESPN from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta
Spread*: Ohio State (-8.5)

My Take: In these championship games when there is a large spread, I feel like it’s the favorite that covers big, so that’s what I’m predicting happens tonight. I think the Irish keep it close in the first half with Ohio State pulling away late.

A spread* in sports betting is a way to even the playing field between a favorite and an underdog by giving or taking points.
Here’s how it works:
OSU -8.5 points:
Ohio State (OSU) is the favorite.
This means Ohio State needs to win by more than 8.5 points (so 9 or more points) for a bet on them to win (or that they cover the spread)
If they win by 9 or more, that means Ohio State (OSU) covered the spread
If they win by 2 or less, or lose, that means Ohio State (OSU) did not cover the spread.
So the question is, do you think Ohio State (OSU) will win by 9 points or more, or do you think Notre Dame will either win or lose by less than 9 points?
